Ve'eyleh Shemot
"Ve'eyleh Shemot" is a multi-media computer program
that enables students to study the Geography of Eretz Yisrael and the history of the
Jewish people by examining the names of settlements in Israel today.
The "Ve'eyleh Shemot" diskette will allow teachers and students
to find the following information regarding every settlement in Israel:
1. The source of the name of the settlement in Tanach, Torah Sheba'al Peh,
Arab names, nature, the wars of Israel, or personalities and events in Jewish history.
2. Additional information about the personalities and events relating to
the name of the settlement.
3. Information about the settlement. In some cases, a picture of the
settlement is included.
4. The geographical location of the settlement and a look at surrounding
settlements.
In addition to direct searches for particular settlements, the program
allows for the access of information in the following ways:
1. Search of settlements that appear in particular sections of the Tanach.
2. Search of settlements by geographical region.
3. Search of settlements by type (i.e. kibbutz, moshav, city, etc)
The "Ve'eyleh Shemot" program can be used as a research tool or
as an interesting way to learn about the geography of the Land of Israel and the history
of the Jewish people and the Land of Israel. "Ve'eyleh Shemot" is a joint
project of the World Council for Torah Education and the Jewish National Fund.
